ACI Marina Jezera, Murter

ACI Marina Jezera is open year round. It is located on Murter Island, in the southern part of the cove of Jezera.

Jezera is known for its well preserved authenticity. It is one of the best-kept towns in Croatia where you can witness the lives of fishermen and seafarers. Aside from its crystal-clear waters, the town will charm you with its authentic customs, quiet stone-paved streets and a rich history going back to antiquity. The special quality of the town was also acknowledged by Croatian Tourist Board’s Blue Flower, the country’s most prestigious urban landscaping award. Located in the south of Jezera Bay, ACI Marina Jezera holds a Blue Flag and it is one of the most awarded and eco-friendliest nautical centers in northern Dalmatia. The breakwater on the eastern side of the marina provides good shelter all year round.

The island of Murter is the largest and most densely populated island in Šibenik-Knin County. After the town of Murter, Jezera is the oldest settlement on this island where the authentic spirit of Dalmatia can be strongly felt. The town portrays an exquisite blend where the lifestyle of fishermen and seafarers remains undisturbed by the facilities and activities provided for tourists. You will find many interesting destinations in Jezera and its surroundings, where you can experience the long rich history of the region dating as far back as antiquity. Even the most authenticity demanding visitors will be pleased with the sports and cultural events, and will enjoy the food that includes only the best of traditional Dalmatian cooking. Despite being located on an island, the marina is well-connected to the mainland road network, via a bridge in Tisno, and there are two international airports nearby, in Zadar and Split.

In Jezera, you can witness many authentic customs. For example the Jezera Sailors’ Ball, held from the late 19th century until the 1950s is a ceremony for young sailors embarking on their first voyage. Whereas Preperuše is the tradition of children bringing rain in times of drought.

You can hear pirate stories as well. There is one involving the Moorish corsairs and the Church of St. John of Trogir in the harbour of Jezera: It is said that when the marauders raided the island and set fire to all the churches they did nıt touch this church because its tower had a carved flame instead of a cross.

Mooring: There are 233 berths on sea and 60 dry berths. The marina is well sheltered by a breakwater and provides protection from all winds.

Sightseeing: Jezera is a beautiful village located on the cove of Jezera on the southeastern coast of the island of Murter. Jezera is well known among sailors for its beautiful beach on the cove, as well as the constant wind (particularly the maestral) during daytime. The narrow Murterski Kanal seperates the island of Murter from the mainland but there is a bridge connecting the two.

Approach: The town of Jezera is situated in its namesake bay on the southeastern coast of the island of Murter. You can approach from both sides of the island of Školjić. Sea depth is 7m off the northern coast of the island, and about 15 m off the southern coast. A red lighthouse (Fl R 5s 7m 4M) on the head of ACI Marina Jezera’s breakwater will serve as a landmark while approaching. You can also use the lighthouse on the island of Maslinjak (Fl G 3s 17m 3M) for orientation because the marina itself is situated deep inside the Bay of Murter. The exact position of the lighthouse is 43°46.1’ N 15°41.0’ E. Between Maslinjak and Školjić youo will see the island of Hrbošnjak, which can be rounded from all sides. However, rounding it from the east is recommended, because the channel between Hrbošnjak and Murter is shallow. You must watch out for the fishing boats while entering the marina.
