The Caribbean consists of more than 7‚000 islands and islets forming an arch from the southeast of the US to Cuba and then down to the northeast of Venezuela. The region has more than thirty administrative units‚ some of which are independent countries while some are the offshore territories of the US‚ France or the Netherlands.
