The fjord-like bay on the south-eastern side of the island offers a star shaped pier head with waters around half a nautical mile deep. There are a few more places in shallower waters a little further behind, though these are often used by pleasure boats. Beyond the harbour town of Rina, the valley extends into a fertile plain which is home to the island‘s agricultural industry farming mainly oranges and mandarins. The harbour has a few restaurants, while Pothia is just 12 km away by land.
