Marina Poreč is located in Poreč, a small coastal town with rich history and cultural heritage, satnding on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. Poreč is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia. So, you can expect bustling crowds, especially during high season.
Marina Poreč is also one of the busy spots, at this time of year. From the marina, you can walk to the town center in just 5 minute minutes. The small island of Sveti Nikola (Saint Nicholas) keeps the the marina well protected from winds and waves. The 160m long breakwater and 60m long pier, where the gas station and 5t crane are positioned, also add to the marina’s safety. Although mostly safe and well protected, the marina can see some swells during a strong north wind. The marina is open all year round.
Mooring: Marina has a total capacity of 129 wet and 15 dry berths, with all of them providing water and electricity. Along the breakwater and piers, the sea depth changes from 1.5 m to 3.5 m, while the entrance to the marina is 150 m wide and 3.5 m deep. For boats with a larger draft (up to 3.5m), the west part of the marina will be suitable for mooring. The marina is protected by a breakwater on the west side.
Sightseeing:Porec is a small town on the western shore of Istria and it is one of the most famous holiday resorts on the Adriatic coast. With many beautiful beaches, islets (St. Nicholas) and the tourist resorts of Blue Lagoon (Plava laguna) and Green Lagoon (Zelena laguna), it attracts tourists all year round. St. Euphrasius' Basilica (6 C) and the Porec Regional Museum in the Sincic Mansion (17 C) are among the importants sights you shouldn’t miss. Another interesting tourist attraction is the castle on the islet of St. Nicholas, which is serving as a hotel; with its tower as one of the oldest lighthouses on the Adriatic (1402) kept intact. Yearly art exhibitions and summer festivals add to the vibrancy of this town.
Approach: When approaching Poreč, you can easily avoid possible dangers simply by staying at least half a mile from the shore. If you’re approaching from NW you must be careful of the rocky shoals near Barbaran islet. When approaching from S, the shoals between St Nikola island and a small islet of Karbula demand attention. The narrow channel with a depth of only 3 metres, at the E of St Nikola island should only be approached in calm weather and in a yacht of a moderate draft.
