Sibenik - Pure Beauty

The Dear Kornati Islands of Bernard Shaw
You can rent a boat in Sibenik to reach the Kornati Archipelago of 140 isles and islets – all in the space of 35x14 kilometers. George Bernard Shaw was on a boat holiday here‚ in 1929‚ and he expressed his feelings towards the islands in these words: ‘On the last day of Creation God desired to crown His work‚ and thus created the Kornati islands out of tears‚ stars and breath.’ Unlike other islands of Croatia‚ these arid islands owe their beauty to the steep rocks rising from the sea‚ the scent of thyme and sage that you can even smell from the boat‚ the crystalline sea which is home to corals‚ and the rare species of birds that live on the isles. You can set sail to mazes between these islands‚ some of which constitute the Kornati National Park‚ and moor in one of the 16 coves you are allowed to moor. Here‚ there are also restaurants that you can only reach if you rent a boat.
Close to the Kornati Islands‚ Dugi Otok‚ ‘the long island’‚ is another place worth visiting in your sailing holiday with its sharp sea cliffs and sandy beaches. Yacht charters in Sibenik will provide you with the opportunity to go to Zlarin‚ famous for its beaches and pine forests‚ to the astonishing Prvic Luka village‚ and Prvic‚ a fishing village.

- If you’re having a boat holiday with kids‚ you can consider going to the Aquapark Solaris‚ Croatia’s first aquapark‚ before leaving Siberik or when you return here.
- Krka National Park has gorgeous waterfalls. You can get there by boat‚ through the Krka River. On the river there is the little Visovac Island which provides unforgettable views: a must-see on your sailing holiday.
- You should also visit Primosten‚ a small port town which was in fact an island‚ before being connected to the mainland with a road built in the sixteenth century. The amazing Radoja Beach is in Primosten.
- Vrana‚ Croatia’s largest lake‚ is very close to Sibenik. The lake is a natural beauty and hosts 250 thousand of birds. Vrana lake is worth a visit before renting a boat.
