Marina Lumbarda

>Marina Lumbarda is open all year round. It is located near the town of Korcula, in the Lumbarda cove on the eastern edge of the island of Korcula.

Marina Lumbarda is situated on the easternmost cape of the island of Korčula, just over two miles SE (6km) of Korčula Town, which is around 20 minutes along the coast by tender or about 10 minutes by taxi or local bus. Lumbarda is an excellent spot for daily trips to the nearby national park of Mljet and the nature park of Lastovo. It is primarily used by local and permanently resident yachts, but during summertime, it can be possible to find an available berth. A 50-metre-long breakwater protects the marina from winds and waves, primarily bura (NE wind) and jugo (SE wind). However, very strong bura winds can cause an a big swell in the marina.

Mooring: There are 115 berths, all of which are equipped with mooring lines as well as electricity and water connections. It can accommodate boats up to 25 meters in length. Water depth in the marina ranges from 2.5 to 8 m. The marina is protected from all winds by a breakwater.

Sightseeing: Perhaps best-known as the birthplace of Marco Polo, Korcula is a town on the northeastern coast of its name sake island. It is basically a peninsula, connected to the island by a narrow isthmus. This landscape makes it full of wonderful alleyways, and one of the most popular destinations in Croatia. If you're in the area on July 29th don't miss the Moreska. During the high season, the games can also be repearted on several other dates. Performed in Korcula since the 15th century, Moreska is a sword game and dance in which the knights of the White King battle the knights of the Black King to rescue the princess abducted by the Black King.

The small village of Lumbarda has restaurants and taverns (konoba) where you can enjoy the traditional cuisine, a bakery, supermarket and a post office, all of which is within the walking distance from the marina. If you need an ambulance, dentist, pharmacy, bank or nautical equipment shop, you must go to the nearby Korčula town. There are also more shops and restaurants and a border crossing point in town that is open all year.

The nearest fuel station is at Korčula Town ferry dock 2 nm NW from Lumbarda.

Transportation: Korčula Town is connected with the mainland town of Orebić on Pelješac peninsula by a daily ferry. From June to September, there is also a seasonal ferry line, connecting Korčula town with Rijeka, Dubrovnik, the town of Drvenik on the Makarska Riviera and Ancona in Italy.

You can also use the daily catamaran service to Split, as well a daily ferry service from Vela Luka (40 km) to Split. Korčula Island is connected to Vela Luka and other settlements on the island with frequent local buses.

Approach: You must be careful when approaching Lumbarda because there are many rocky islets and numerous shoals to the NE of the village. One of the shoals, indicated by a green marker, is to the west of the bay, opposite the marina.
