Agathonisi is the northernmost of the islands that belong to the Dodecanese and is a favoured stop-off on the way to or from Samos. It lies only 9 nm from the Turkish coast, which is why the coast guard is stationed in Chorio harbour, the sparsely populated, sole town of the island. You can tie up alongside at the widespread ferry quay, but depending on the allocation, may have to make way when the ferry arrives. In front of the restaurant on the north shore there are moorings for yachts of smaller draught.
