Take your pick – you can sail from Marmaris to Çiftlik as the first day’s leg, and then go on the next day to the two wildly romantic bays, Serçe and Bozukkale (or at least one of them). Or you can go for the big stretch and do it all in one day. Whichever way you decide to do it, you should not miss these two bays, which are unique, both in their own way. A particular highlight is the climb up to the castle ruins in Bozukkale (the name means 'ruined castle’ in Turkish), which is highly recommended, and is not too great an exertion. In antiquity, both bays were valued for strategic reasons, and underwater finds point to their use as naval bases. A wreck from that time was found on the sea bed in Serçe. It sank more than a thousand years ago, loaded with glass, and can be viewed today in Bodrum Museum.
