Boat Trends in 2022

The fact that boat shows could not be held for almost two years (due to the pandemic) upset our industry's professionals and yacht enthusiasts like everyone else. Finally, we were able to visit the fair with peace of mind this autumn and we realized that we missed it a lot. The Cannes Yachting Festival on 7-12 September, the Southampton Boat Show on 10-19 September and the Genoa Boat Show on 16-21 September were held with enthusiasm. The stands at all fairs were full of the excitement of meeting again and of course the most beautiful boats of the 2021-22 season. Let's take a look at the prominent models together.

Boat Trends in 2022

1 Elan GT6

With the collaboration of Humphrey Yacht Design and Porsche Design Studio, the 15.2-meter Elan GT6 has lines that take the brand one step further. Inspired by offshore racing boats, the sporty, modern Elan GT6 promises fast and stable sailing in all weather conditions. Offering an elegant look with its curved lines as well as modern lines, the cockpit of the GT6 is wide and ergonomic. Twin rudders and a center retractable table are placed in the cockpit to allow unobstructed passage from the swim platform to the interior. The high freeboard of the boat is designed for safety. Elan GT6, which has a simple interior aesthetic, is offered with two cabins as standard, but it is also possible to choose it as three cabins.

2 Beneteau Oceanis 34.1

Although larger yachts can now be managed with few people, Beneteau emphasizes that this boat size is the most advantageous for an enjoyable sailing experience. The 10.77-metre Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 has an easy-to-operate rig with twin rudders and a self-tacking jib. The deck layout has been redesigned to provide maximum safety and comfort while sailing, at the helm and at anchor. Sheet and halyard lines are not at the forward of the cockpit, but there are winches on either side for the helmsman to adjust the jib. The interiors, which are offered with walnut or light oak options, are in the simple and elegant lines of Nauta Design. The hatches and numerous portholes on the deck bring natural light to the boat and provide excellent ventilation. The navigation table in the living area can be converted into two single beds with its folding table. The Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 is available with a choice of two or three double cabins.

3 Lagoon Sixty 5

With a length of 20.55 meters and a width of 10 meters, the lounge of Lagoon Sixty 5 is bright and spacious with a 360˚ viewing angle as well as its simple design. The same understanding and plenty of light show itself in the cabins. Lagoon Sixty 5 is ideal for large groups with several different pleasure areas. The interior and exterior spaces, which can be walked without steps, are combined by opening large glass doors, thus making the space even larger. The hydraulic platform is available on the boat as a separate pleasure and entertainment area. The flybridge of the boat, which is offered with six and four cabin options, is wonderful. This section is the heart of the boat, with double helms, electronics, rest and kitchen/dining area.

4 Dufour 470

The 13.7-meter-long boat is offered in three different versions that people can choose according to their sailing experience. The “Easy” version is designed for those who are new to sailing with its plain deck plan, the “ocean” version is designed for those who love the traditional deck plan with its flatbed cranes, and the “performance” version is designed for those who love to race with six high quality winches, a main sheet lowering to the cockpit floor and performance equipment. All three versions created by Felci Yacht Design can optionally be ordered with a kitchen/bbq area above the swimming platform. Providing comfort with its twin rudders and wide cockpit, the boat is produced with three or four cabins.

5 Moody DS 41

One of the leading brands of motor sailor boat type, Moody's new boat DS 41 combines the pleasure of sailing with the comfort of a motor yacht. Generally, sailing performance is not demanding on this type of boat, but Moody DS 41 is faster than its counterparts with its 83 m² sail area and sail plan designed for performance. It is very easy to reach the bow sunbathing area from the wide side walkways of the boat, which is extremely safe with its high freeboard and uninterrupted deck design. The cockpit, on the other hand, is ideal for relaxing in the shade with its bimini awning. Thanks to the sliding glass door, the cockpit can be combined with the interior where the living area and kitchen are located. The comfortable corner sofa set with the large living room table and the longitudinal kitchen offer a spacious living space. Downstairs, the forward master cabin is light and airy with very large portholes. The three-door cabinet of this cabin is one of the features that will make the owner feel at home. The other cabin has a private bathroom and can be preferred as two single beds or double beds.

6 Grand Soleil 42 Long Cruise

Grand Soleil 42 Long Cruise, designed in collaboration with Nauta Design and Cantiere del Pardo, was built with plenty of storage space and comfort in mind. Controls are kept safe and simple by routing all the ropes under the aft deck in the boat with the in-mast winding system. The cruise version of the boat is offered with a carbon fiber belt on the deck, while the sports version is offered without it. The cockpit is arranged in such a way that it is easy to walk from the swimming platform to the foredeck. The interior of the boat, which is offered with a choice of two or three cabins, is very spacious. The two-cabin version has very large storage areas for comfort on long cruises.

7 Jeanneau Yachts 60

The boat, which is 18.28 meters in full length, draws attention with its different bimini selections and front deck sunbathing areas. The cockpit is useful with its width and two separate tables. It is also comfortable to go in and out of the sea with the wide swimming ladder of the platform, which allows the dinghy to be easily taken into the garage. Thanks to the automatic tack and electric genoa winding system offered as standard, it is possible to sail with small crews. Three, four, five or six cabins can be preferred, and there is a separate shower compartment in the master cabin bathroom. Dishwasher and washing machine options are offered for Jeanneau 60, which has a large storage area in the kitchen.

8 Bavaria C38

The 11.4-metre-long Bavaria C38 offers more under-deck space with its chin hull and V-shaped prow, while increasing stability and sailing performance with its longer waterline. Shipyard officials also state that this special design makes the rudder feel better. The greater sub-deck space created by this hull shape is evident inside, particularly in the wider aft cabin. The master cabin at the bow is quite assertive with its double bed measuring 1.73x2 meters. The living area table can be lowered to create a double bed. The C38, which is designed simply with a self-tacking flocking for easy use, can be ordered with an optional in-pole winding system. Standard keel or smaller keel for shallow waters, and whether the boat has two or three cabins is also dependent on the owner's choices.

9 Bali 4.6

Bali 4.6 stands out with its design and innovations. As in all models of Bali Catamarans, there is a hard platform on the foredeck instead of net, and this section can be used comfortably while cruising. Thanks to the brand-specific “garage door” system, the interior saloon and the aft cockpit can be combined. The door opening from the kitchen to the foredeck provides ease of access between the rear cockpit and the foredeck. The Bali 4.6's upper deck includes a helm station, ample sunbathing area and seating area surrounding the dining table.

10 Bonus: Azimut 53 - for those seeking the comfort of a motoryacht

One of the motoryachts introduced by Azimut at the 2021 Cannes Yacht Festival, the 16.78-meter Azimut 53 has many common features with the Azimut 78. One of them is that both yachts are the first IPS engines in Azimut's flybridge series. In addition to performance and fuel economy, this preference also increases living space, especially on the lower deck. The effect of this choice is evident in the master cabin, which is located in the middle of the boat and uses its full width of 4.95 meters, with a private bathroom and full-length wardrobe. Azimut 53 also has two guest cabins, both with private bathrooms, and a crew quarter with a single bathroom. If the owner owns the boat, the crew section can also be used to store marine toys. Azimut 53, which can cruise at 20 knots and top speed of 30 knots, has 2x725 HP Volvo Penta IPS engines.
